The Maple Collection reinterprets two famous containers: the traditional jug to preserve syrup, and the metal can. These utility containers, which are particularly popular in everyday life, have been part of our landscape for a very long time. As my artistic practice explores the themes of our Canadiancollective identity, and that I am interested in the history of our craftsmanship, I have chosen to reinterpret these two symbols in a contemporary way.I want them to be featured in our homes, thus giving us an opportunity to value the consumption of our local products. The sugar bowl and the bottles are sometimes paired with nostalgic landscapes, sometimes with current motifs or pictograms questioning stereotypes of Canadian identity. A very personal imagery representing our surroundings which we all can relate to in some ways.
